Since chronic diseases play a crucial role in the development of future claims cost, the report focuses on type 2 diabetes as an example. The paper explains how an analysis can be executed, which methods are applicable and how the results can be used for disease management. This analysis shows that machine learning algorithms are suitable to estimate the future development of specific chronic diseases.
